How we work

Shore weather is hard on chimneys: wind-driven rain, salt air, and freeze-thaw open up mortar joints, and a cracked crown lets water straight into the stack. We rebuild chimneys from the roofline up, repoint failing joints with properly matched mortar, and pour crowns that shed water instead of holding it.

Matching matters. Repointing with the wrong mortar — too hard, wrong color — damages old brick and looks like a patch. We match strength and color so the repair disappears into the original work.

Outdoors, we build wood-burning fireplaces and chimneys as true masonry structures: real footings, firebrick boxes, and flues sized to draw clean. An outdoor fireplace done right is a fifty-year fixture, not a kit on a slab.

Questions

Straight answers.

How do I know if my chimney needs repointing or a rebuild?

Soft, cracked, or missing mortar joints call for repointing; spalled brick, leaning stacks, or deep water damage usually mean a rebuild above the roofline. We'll look at it, show you photos of what we see, and quote the option that actually solves it.

Can you fix a chimney flagged during a home sale or by insurance?

Yes — we've done insurance-required masonry repairs, including working with the town on permits, and can scope the work to what the inspection actually requires.

Do you build outdoor fireplaces?

We do — true masonry fireplaces with footings, firebrick, and properly sized flues, usually as part of a patio or outdoor living project. They're built to draw clean and stand for decades.
